Abstract:   (216 Views)

The main objective of this study was to investigate the farmers’
attitude toward risk by using an econometric model.   Farmers' data for
the current study were drawn out from 125 farmers of Beiza, in Fars
province, who were selected by a stratified random sampling method.
The variance-covariance analysis which was used in this study indicated
that farmers react to changes in the variance and an average of nearly all
crops.   So, it was revealed risk aversion inthe farmers.   The results also
indicated that, socio-economics factors, agricultural crop insurance,
extension services, level of education, and non-farming jobs have
negative influence on risk aversion.
The results shows that agricultural crop insurance has positive effect
on decreasing farmers' degree of risk aversion, and thereby, enhancing
their investment as well as farmers' income levels.
